Readers of Amy Carmichael will recall that, among the different translations of her beloved Psalms variously quoted in her books, she refers not infrequently to Kay's version, a publication that many of her readers have unsuccessfully sought to obtain. This 339 page facsimile reprint of the 1864 edition will be especially welcomed by those who value Amy Carmichael's writings, as well as by those who love to read the Psalms. Kay appears to have been a competent Hebrew scholar; and, while not dramatically different from other traditional versions, the text of his translation, together with his footnotes, provides yet another worthwhile perspective, in dignified and acceptable English, on the Psalter. As a facsimile, it has one or two minor defects: the table of contents is printed on the last page, and although the volume's title clearly identifies W. Kay as the translator, the contemporary printer has chosen to label its author as 'Anonymous.'Product details
